Renters insurance
An insurance policy held by a resident that covers their belongings and their liability for damage or injury.
Many leases require residents to carry a minimum amount of liability coverage and to name the property as an interested party so the manager is notified if the policy lapses. Some managers offer a master policy that residents can join instead.
Renters insurance protects residents after fires or theft and can cover resident-caused damage that would otherwise fall on the owner's policy.
