Lesson 1 of 5 · 6 min
Set up your company
The organization settings that decide how money moves and who has to sign off.
Before you add a single property, spend ten minutes on your company settings. They decide how your ledger starts, whether money flows through a trust ledger, and whether payables need a second person. Changing them later is possible, but it is cleaner to decide now.
Where to find it
Open Setup › Organization. The page is grouped into sections; the two that matter most on day one are Payables and the general ledger, and Trust accounting.
- Set the General ledger start date. This is the first day StrivBridge keeps your books. If you are switching systems, use the day after the last month you will close in your old software.
- Decide whether Bills need approval before they can be paid. If more than one person enters bills, turn it on.
- Decide whether to Require a second person for payables. With it on, the person who enters a bill cannot also approve it.
- If you hold owner or resident money in trust, turn on Post resident payments to the trust ledger and Post bill payments to the trust ledger.
- Choose whether to Prorate move-in charges, and set the Insurance expiry lead time so you hear about lapsing renter's policies early.
- Save, then open Setup › Chart of accounts and Setup › GL account defaults to confirm the accounts StrivBridge will post to.
